We decided to head down the beach this week with our lovely friends Jen & Jamie and their boys to take some snaps at the beach and then have a nice dinner together after wards. On the drive down I said I was rather frustrated with the lack of cloud cover (yet again!), but by the time we got to the beach, there were some beautiful wispy clouds forming – So beautiful. I must admit, I didn’t preform very well on the day. I was tired, and half of the photos were *so* crooked – whoops! Ah, the well behaved children, great company and pretty clouds made up for it I think! I think this is going to me my new favorite beach location. It’s a little more private, and it’s such a pretty spot!

Gwen and one of *cough* her boyfriends had a fab time, although Jack was rather unsure of the beach, it took him quite a while to warm up to the sand and water! Little Alex was such a champ, and a performer as always, I think he definitely loved the trip to the beach. I really need to organise a trip down again so that ALL of Gwen’s friends can be there. I really need to get some shots of them all together! Anyhow, heres a few snaps from the afternoon, I had a bit more fun with these – I need to get out of my post-processing rut!

Little Miss S | Sneak Peek

October 15, 2009

Gosh I love photographing babies, and this little one was no exception! Little Shakita certainly wanted to test my baby whispering skills, I think she was the most alert little baby I’ve ever had the chance to photograph. Of course I’ve had the regular awake crying baby, but little S was something else! She was so awake and alert, happy to look around the room, out the window, into your eyes. Such a delightful little thing she was (well, not that she was all that little for a newborn, she was nearly 10lbs!). She even held her head up for me at a young 13 days old! Eventually she dropped off to sleep for us (for short little spurts of course, she was far too busy checking out the world to sleep!), so I eventually caught some of her asleep, although she did protest every time I moved her!

Thanks so much R & K for inviting me into your home to photograph this little one, it’s a joy every time!

I was all set to photograph this beautiful family in late October, but after a few emails we decided to bring the session forward and I’m so glad we did! The weather was beautiful, the location was lovely, the family was gorgeous! *R* and *X* were the to most beautiful little girls, with personalities to boot! R was such a smiley friendly big sister. I think I’ve hit the jackpot lately, I’ve had such spectacular outgoing kids with beautiful grins from ear to ear! X was such a darling little thing.. More serious then R, but certainly cheeky when she wanted to be!

Thank you so much to B and her lovely husband for letting me photograph their family. I had such a wonderful time. It’s not too often I get to sit down and have a chat on the job!

I adore this photo of them together, they had such stunning unique eyes.. Such beautiful girls!

Fun in the Field!

October 5, 2009

Well!… After being so busy, it was finally time for me to do something for myself. My lovely friend Amanda came over for a visit and to snap some quick early maternity photos, so we decided to snap some of the kids while we were at it! The kids were awesome, they played model for me *so* nicely, and I’m so glad they did! I’ve definitely got some favorites in this bunch! I’ve gone crazy with a bit of colour which I love to do from time to time for personal photos.. I just love the colour of this field in the late afternoon!

I love that two brothers that can be at each others necks half the day be so tender and loving… Well, for a paddle pop of course!

I’d love to know what he’s thinking here, probably how much of a ham Gwen is!!

BLOG6

Whats a bunch of photos without some cheesy grins??

BLOG7

I think this is my favorite of the boys… So protective..

BLOG1

Can anyone say ham?

BLOG8

I adore this photo..  I’m sure some won’t like it of course, but it’s definitely one of my favorites. This his how they posed themselves when I asked Gwen to put her arm around Connor.. One of her best friends – I’m sure they’ll cherish this picture when they’re older (well, I know I will!)…. When we’re  not teasing them with it of course!

BLOG9

My lovely friend Amanda, with a VERY little baby in quite a big tummy! I’m sure there’ll be lots more of these to come from us!

BLOG10

I think this may be my favorite shot yet of Amanda, Connor, and Callum.. So sweet and tender, and it’s so them.

BLOG4

Right! Well, they posed for us (how nice of them!) so it was only fair that they could have some fun too..  This is Callum, Connor, and Gwen… Being complete geese.  My gosh, my daughter is a ham lol.

This was the last shot of the day, and oh lord it looks SO staged, but I swear its not. This is their monster game they play every time they see each other, and although I *really* don’t like it, I’m so stoked I caught this moment. The look on both of their faces is so priceless lol

Andrea Joki: Absolutely jaw droppingly gorgeous! I love every single one - wow!

Rana: Wow WOw Wow, these are stunning Eileen. Love them so much :)

Amanda K: Soooo darn gorgeous. The light is magic, and the connections you've captured are priceless. I LOL'd at the last one :P

Amanda: Leen, you genius! I love them so much. That series of them being crazy kids is awesome too. All of them- and I also agree with your favourites. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Fran Paysen: Oh my, such great shots. What a treasure to have these. Love that last one too, hilarious!

Nicole Collier: All of those shots are fantastic! The light, the expressions...so beautiful.

Melissa Campbell: Beautiful. I love the outtakes with the kids. Shows just how close they are. I wasn't sure how I felt about the girl shirtless at first.

Jane Photo: I'm happy to help you celebrate these photos! The light is stunning, and the kids are adorable. I just love the serious b+ws. Really beautiful.

Kirsten flavell: these are gorgeous! Love them. I especially love the one of the mum and her boys...

Jen Stocks: WOw. wow. wow. These are so good I can hardly describe how good! You have such an amazing ability to capture tenderness, and that is a massive skill. Well done, your friend is very lucky.

Christine Pobke: WOW. seriously!??!?! all of these photos are incredible! just perfect!! sweet jebus.

Karmel: Oh my!! These are fabulous!! That last one cracks me up!! And I love the ones of the boys together and number 6 is just screaming to be big on canvas.

This weekend I headed out to photograph two wonderful little children who were such polar opposites! Mr Jake was such an outgoing chatty little fellow! Every time I pointed my camera at him, his big bright grin would beam from ear to ear, I don’t think I got one serious shot of him! Little Miss Matilda was such a sweetheart with the most beautiful red hair and porcelain skin, but she was ever so serious! There was no bossing that little miss around, she certainly had no problem asserting herself!

Thanks *K*, I had a wonderful time photographing your little ones, I hope they weren’t too tired and cranky for you afterwards!
